A Mystery

July 17 – August 2

When psychiatrist Adam Ferris dies from a gunshot in his office, Jill Jardine takes over his practice.  Ferris, who was Jill’s mentor, had things to hide, though.  As Jill begins to meet and treat his patients, details of their lives begin to raise suspicions about which one of his patients killed him.  Police detective Donna Beals begins to suspect that Jill has something to hide, as Jill refuses to breach the confidence of her new patients.  In due course, though, Beals’ eye turns to one of romantic interest, complicating her investigation.  The strange and sundry patients, though, begin to involuntarily enlighten Jill on how Ferris died.

ZERO HOUR by Jim Brochu

The Zero Mostel Play – A Comedy

August 22 – September 6

Set in theatre legend Zero Mostel's painting studio on West 28th Street, a naive reporter attempts to interview the famously volatile artist, prompting an explosion of memory, humor, outrage and juicy backstage lore. Mostel is remembered for his comedic genius and his definitive roles, but in the 1950's he was equally known for his place on the infamous Hollywood blacklist. Mostel's swagger, ferocity, intelligence and fantastic wit is brought back to the stage in this volcanic tour-de-force by actor John Medeiros.

ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell

Adapted by Nelson Bond - A Satire
November 14 – 29

Animal Farm is a fable with a sting. Much has been written about the threat of Communism, but it remained to the late George Orwell, farsighted British author of the brilliant and frightening 1984, to expose the Russian experiment for what it really is: an idealist's dream, converted by realists into a nightmare. In a staged dramatic reading version of this timely allegory you will meet beasts whose prototypes have dominated news headlines for many fearful years. Opening on a note of joyous triumph for the creatures who have emancipated themselves from the cruel mastery of a human owner, the reading mounts inexorably to a climax of disillusionment in which the other animals discover themselves now subject to the rule of even more ruthless autocrats: the greedy, cunning pigs. Intermingling humor and drama, Animal Farm wrings the emotions of its listeners, leaving audiences shaken with the tale of a tragedy that happened in a mythical barnyard far away but could happen in our own back yard.
